MY HAIR MY CROWN: 8 EXPERT ADVICE TO KEEP HEALTHY NATURAL HAIR THAT YOu DON'T KNOW

In this week episode of My Hair My Crown, I will be giving you tips on how to keep your hair healthy and beautiful the natural way. Firstly, I must establish that natural hair is simply a relaxer-free hair.
It’s fascinating when pictures of  women with natural hair is seen online and when we hear them speak positively about their natural hair journey. These stories often serve as proof that
your journey can be just as successful if you’re willing to invest the time and energy into learning to care for your natural hair properly. It doesnt take more than proper attention and strict adherence to guidelines from an expert like this.
In light of this, I'll be giving few tips on how to care for your hair with natural items that we can easily find around us.

1. Keep Yourself Hydrated

Drink 8 - 12 glasses of water per day. If you are not a fan of water, try flavoring it with fresh lemon juice or cucumbers or extract from freshly squeezed fruits. Remember most of the juices we get in stores do little for our bodies as they are mostly synthetic so they are not advisable.

2. Keep Your Hair Moisturized
Create a daily hair moisturizing spritz with water, Aloe Vera juice and any natural oil. Add honey to leave-ins, honey draws in moisture from the air. Also, locking of hair is effective for moisture retention. Start with a Liquid such as water, then seal with a natural oil and seal again with cream. Remember Water is your Friend!

3. Eat well Balanced diets

Eat well balanced diets not just for the health of your hair but also for the health of your entire body. Consume fresh fruits, vegetables, vitamin C, zinc, iron healthy fats such as omega 3s and olive oil and protein. It will help you feel good inside and out.

4. Always Protect Your Hair Before Bed

You must not go to bed without protecting your hair. Most bedsheets and pillow cases are often made of cotton, which sucks moisture out of your hair. Always sleep with satin/silk bonnets, if you keep going to bed without them you might wake up to broken off hairs. Also, avoid sleeping with hair nets, bands on them breaks off your edges. Always sleep with a satin bonnet.

5. Don't Over Wash Your Hair
Each head of hair is different, so there is really no correct answer of how often you should wash your hair. However, you can tell when you’re washing your hair too much if it starts to get dull, which means it’s time to scale back on the shampooing. By over-washing your hair, you can wash away your hair’s natural moisture which helps your hair look healthy. If you’re not washing your hair often enough, you can have product build-up which could negatively impact your hair. Also avoid using hot water when washing your hair. Use lukewarm water, because hot water can strip the scalp of sebum, which is the protective oil that acts as a natural conditioner and gives your hair its shine.

5. Steam Your Hair Frequently

Steamers are the best way to get moisture into low porosity coarse hair. Moisture levels in the scalp are balanced by regular steam treatments which keeps dandruff at bay. Steaming reduces hair breakage by increasing moisture and aiding better penetration of deep treatments which lead to stronger and healthier hair. Steaming also increases blood flow into scalp which may lead to increased hair growth.

6. Do Protein Treatments
Egg is the best source of protein for your hair. The yolk is rich in fat and protein which is extremely norishing. The white is full of bacteria eating enzymes which cleanses your hair and scalp.Take one egg or two depending on the length and thickness of your hair. Beat until frothy and apply it to your hair and scalp. Make sure all your hair is properly covered with egg. Cover with a shower cap and leave it on for 20 minutes. Rinse with cold water and shampoo. If you find the smell of egg unpleasant, add a few drops of lemon juice.
Yogurt can also be used for protein treatment, Simply, massage 3 tbsp sour cream or yogurt into your hair. Let it sit for 20 minutes. Rinse and shampoo hair. Protein treatments should be done every 4-6 weeks.

7. Use Little To No Heat On Your Hair

Overuse of heat styling tools like flat irons, dryers leads to split ends, dryness, breakage and alteration of natural hair curl pattern. Rather than heat drying your hair, air dry it. Air drying your hair gives your hair lot of volume.

8.  Choose The Right Product For Your Hair.
Lastly, choose products that are designed to be gentle on your hair. Also, many hair care experts recommend a pH-balanced shampoo to prevent excessive dryness and hair damage during the shampooing process.

Other Tips
Treat your hair often with natural oils
•  Deep Condition your hair weekly for at least 30 minutes.
•  Always trim your hair with hair cutting scissors. Paper cutting scissors can cause split ends.
