HIGH TALK POINTS OF THE UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 2017/2018

The UEFA Champions league begins this mid-week with lot of expectations, hopes and even questions on the lips of many on the club most prestigious football fans. Last season, Real Madrid won its record 12th European Cup and became the first team to win successive titles in the Champions League era (since 1992-93). Three of the traditional English representatives also return to the competition with so many talking points. So let’s see some them.

CAN PARIS SAINT GERMAIN F.C. GIVE IT A PUSH?
The fans of the French club have look less satisfactory dominance in the domestic competition which they have seen them win four Ligue 1 title in the last five years and nine local trophies both in the Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue. However, their performance in Europe with all their signings which is close a billion Euros, Les Parisiens have failed to secure a semi-final ticket all their life. So, with the presence of Neymar Jr from Barcelona for world record fee [€222m], Kylian Mbappe [€180m] from Monaco coupled with the arrays of stars in the team no more excuse for PSG.

IS NOW OR NEVER FOR SIMEONE AND BUFFON?

These two personalities Diego Simeone coach of Athletico Madrid and Gianlugi Buffon the legendary goal keeper of The Old Ladies have in the final of the Champions league twice each in the last four years but unfortunately have met a very rootless attacking Real Madrid or Barcelona in the final. Buffon quitting at the end of 2018 without the trophy will be remembered as the goal keeping Delima Ronaldo who won everything but the Champions league. While for Simeone, though age is on his side but you feel he won’t run down his contract before moving to bigger club.

ISN’T IT STRANGE WITHOUT THE GUNNERS?

Yea, I guess every non-Arsenal fans are laughing with their feet to the sky and back to the ground but can we just picture a night of champions involving Arsenal without a talking point? A team who have always been around for close to two decades with a consistent round of 16 qualification for 12 years, coupled with their crowd that fill up away stadium in their time of crisis, it maybe not be a big miss but surely a notable absence.
